In English.
Intersection for the Arts was founded in 1965 when several faith-based programs that used art to reach out to local underprivileged youth merged into one program. It is a non-profic group that supports new and experimental literature, theater, music, and visual arts in San Francisco. First located in the Tenderloin District, its later locations were in North Beach and the Mission District. The organization provides fiscal sponsorship, skill-building workshops, arts-coaching, and affordable workspace in support of artists. It also hosts a variety of artistic programs in dance, theater, music, readings, and public exhibitions. Root Divsion, Youth Speaks, Campo Santo, LitQuake, Cutting Ball Theater, Red Poppy Art House, and Galeria de la Raza are among the organization's best-known sponsorships which have become art and cultural leaders in San Francisco.
